I realize that’s probably the lamest fact about me, that my favorite song of all time (OF ALL TIME!) is by Sting, but whatever. I can still remember being a kid, hearing it for the first time in the backseat of my mom’s new car (which was then my first car) and thinking it was the loveliest picture a song had ever painted for me. I never really knew what I wanted to do with my life (except that when I was really young, I told people I wanted to be a “cashier” because I liked “pushing buttons”) but I always wanted to make someone feel as good as “Fields of Gold” made me feel inside. I heard this cover years later on Dawson’s Creek and all those feelings came right back. It’s just really beautiful.</p> <p>I hate having a roommate who is always home because I just want to sit here and sing my heart out, but I can’t. Or, won’t.</p> <p>Anyway, maybe that’s why I’ve always tried to write poems, thinking maybe one day I could make one a song, sing it, and someone will feel that way.
